How we work

The Viewfinder Edit aims to make phone photography easier to judge, not to turn preferences into rules. We explain what a recommendation depends on, distinguish opinion from verifiable detail, and correct mistakes when they are brought to our attention.

Accuracy and scope

We check factual statements against the material available to us and take care with device and app differences. Features can vary by model, operating system, region, and software version, so coverage should not imply that one menu or result applies everywhere. Our photography coverage is editorial information, not a guarantee that a setting will produce a particular image.

Independence and commercial material

Editorial choices are made for relevance to readers, not to promise favorable coverage. Any sponsored or partner material is clearly labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial content. A commercial relationship does not turn an opinion into an editorial verdict.

Corrections

Readers can report a possible error through the Contact page. Include the article, the passage, and what you believe needs correction; useful context helps us review it. When a published detail is wrong, we correct it and make the change clear where appropriate.

Images and illustrations

Some illustrations may be generated with AI. Such images are illustrative rather than photographic evidence, and are labelled where appropriate. We do not present an illustration as a real phone photograph or as proof that a technique produces a particular result.
